Dobbs Defense Solutions is seeking a Lead Network Engineer to support a secure, global DoD communications network. The role includes designing, implementing, and maintaining network infrastructure supporting office automation, collaboration, voice, and video services within a classified, distributed environment. The engineer will document configurations, management tools, and operational procedures to ensure performance, security, and mission continuity.

Job Description
Dobbs Defense Solutions is seeking a Lead Network Engineer to support a secure, global DoD communications network. The role includes designing, implementing, and maintaining network infrastructure supporting office automation, collaboration, voice, and video services within a classified, distributed environment. The engineer will document configurations, management tools, and operational procedures to ensure performance, security, and mission continuity.
Duties
- Review and assess the existing WAN, MAN, and LAN network architecture; design modernized solutions to enhance performance, scalability, and security
- Recommend and implement best practices such as SDN, intent-based networking, and segmentation protocols to align with enterprise and mission requirements
- Design and specify telecommunications circuits, routers, switches, and encryption devices to support enterprise-level connectivity and resilience
- Develop Infrastructure-as-Code deliverables and service catalog items to automate provisioning and configuration management
- Create and maintain detailed network architecture documentation, schematics, and technical artifacts in alignment with evolving standards and capacity needs
- Evaluate emerging communications technologies, conduct cost-benefit analyses and testing, and provide recommendations for upgrades, enhancements, and integration
Qualifications
Required education and experience:
- Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD; 4 additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
- TS/SCI level clearance is required
- Minimum 3 years of Cisco experience with proven expertise in routers, switches, firewalls, and unified communications equipment
- Information Assurance Certifications consistent with DoD 8570 IAT Level III (e.g., CASP+, CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security X)
- Professional certifications in Cisco (CCNP/CCIE), VMware (VCP), and/or ITIL are highly desired; experience with Cisco SecureX is strongly preferred
