Job Description:
Dobbs Defense Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Content Strategist / Information Architect to support a large-scale digital transformation and website modernization initiative. The ideal candidate will lead content inventory efforts, information architecture planning, content governance strategies, and migration readiness activities for a large content-heavy web environment. This position requires strong experience with content rationalization, taxonomy development, accessibility-aware content planning, and public-sector digital initiatives.
Duties:
- Lead content inventory and audit activities across websites, documents, PDFs, forms, media, and digital assets.
- Perform ROT (redundant, outdated, trivial) analysis and develop content disposition recommendations.
- Develop sitemap structures, navigation hierarchy, taxonomy strategies, metadata recommendations, and content models.
- Collaborate with UX teams to support card sorting, tree testing, usability validation, and top-task analysis.
- Partner with technical architects to ensure IA and taxonomy recommendations align with Drupal implementation requirements.
- Identify accessibility-risk content including inaccessible documents, complex tables, forms, and legacy attachments.
- Develop content governance recommendations, ownership models, approval workflows, and review cycle processes.
- Prepare migration mapping documentation, content readiness criteria, and content QA standards for implementation teams.
- Support strategic planning efforts by documenting audience needs, content risks, governance recommendations, and migration strategies.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Information Architecture, Digital Strategy, English, Library Science, or related field required.
- 10+ years of content strategy, taxonomy, information architecture, or content governance experience.
- 5+ years supporting large content-heavy websites with 1,000+ pages or comparable enterprise digital environments.
- 3+ years conducting content audits, ROT analysis, content inventories, or migration planning activities.
- Experience supporting CMS migrations, preferably Drupal-based environments.
- Experience with Section 508, WCAG accessibility standards, and plain-language content development.
- Experience supporting Maryland state agencies, healthcare organizations, public health agencies, or comparable public-sector environments strongly preferred.
- Experience with card sorting, tree testing, or IA validation methodologies preferred.
- Certified Content Strategist preferred
- AIIM CIP, IAAP CPACC, NN/g UX Certification, or equivalent experience preferred

Salary Range:
Pay range information will be disclosed consistent with applicable state and local pay transparency laws once available. For this position, the anticipated salary range is $52,000.00 - $62,400.00 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
